Chief Moses Mahlangu buried

Chief Mahlangu was honoured for his 36 years of excellent service in 2007 by King Mayisha III, king of the Ndzundza Mabhoko Tribe.

eMBALENHLE – Thousands of mourners went to pay their last respects to Chief Moses Mahlangu of the Ndzundza Mabhoko Royal Kraal of amaNdebele on Saturday, 23 August at his home in Extension 2.

He died on Thursday, 14 August after a long illness.

The house of traditional leaders, religious leaders and residents expressed their sympathy and praised Chief Mahlangu.

They described him as a humble and dedicated person.

He was installed as the chief of the area by King Mabusa Besala in Driefontein Township in 1972.

Chief Mahlangu was honoured for his 36 years of excellent service in 2007 by King Mayisha III, king of the Ndzundza Mabhoko Tribe.

He is survived by his wife, Ms Anna Mtsweni, two children, 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Throughout the funeral service, Ndebele songs were sung in honour of the chief and various poets said praises to the Mahlangu clan, such as “Mngwezane gosha elimnyama”.

The family thanked everybody for their support, especially Mr Robert Mpondo for donating a cow.

Chief Mahlangu was buried in the amaNdebele tradition in the Kinross Cemetery.
