Man allegedly robs unemployed

Disgruntled unemployed community member want their money back.

Unemployed community members claimed they have become victims of a man demanding R300 in exchange for a job.

Mr Sifiso Dube has allegedly been scamming residents by saying he works for the Department of Water Affair and is responsible for hiring people.

According to community members, he asked for money to secure their employment at Grootdraai Dam. Ms Phumzile Dube, a victim, said he approached her family and told her mother about vacancies at the department and that he could hire her.

“He said he wanted to only hire the Dube family, that’s why he approached my family,” Ms Dube said. He said he needed R300 and Ms Dube’s mother asked him to include her sister’s child.

“We exchanged numbers and my mother gave him R600,” Ms Dube said.

Ms Dube told her friend about this offer, who also gave him money.

“He promised to call us the following day and finalise everything, but he didn’t. “I have been trying to get hold of him, but he does not answer his phone,” she also said. He also took Mr Thabang Monareng’s identity document.

“He told me that he will hire me and I must keep it a secret,” Mr Monareng said. These people are still unemployed and want their money back.

They reported the matter to the Community Policing Forum (CPF) and the CPF is looking for him.

When Mr Sifiso Dube was called for a comment he did not answer his phone.
