Siyabonga Radebe wil perfom comedy in Graceland

Siyabonga Radebe and the Wow Entertainment crew will be performing at Graceland Casino.

SECUNDA – South African’s number one and longest trading vernacular stand-up show visits Secunda for the first time since inception some nine years ago.

It will be held at the Graceland Casino on Saturday, 26 July from 8pm.

The funny comical mix is a careful selection of experienced headline acts, with intelligent and relevant humour.

Siyabonga Radebe, known as Sya B in comedy circles, is a prolific stand-up comedian, writer, singer, director and actor who broke into the national television screen through SABC1 drama series “A place called home”.

He played the popular role as Cassius from 2006 to 2009.

He is also known for his role as Boboza, a troubled musician who commits suicide on e.tv’s Rhythm City in 2010.

Other television series he has acted in, include the SABC1 drama series Intersexions, Gugu no-Andile, Wild at Heart, and Sokhulu and Partners.

He has also had notable roles as Benjy, the on-screen lover of Katlego (played by LeratoMvelase) in Home Affairs.

However the role that shot his popularity to the hearts of millions of South Africans is that of Xolani Mthembu, a “Ben 10” (toy-boy) of Mam-Ruby (SlindileNodangala), on SA’s most popular soapie Generations.

Qualified as a drama graduate from the Durban University of Technology, Sya B has also appeared in a number of theatre productions, including Blacks Like Me, Cheap Show,, Closer, Grin and Bear It.

He regularly features in Comedy Central Presents Live at Parker’s, and is one of the most respected stand-up comedians in the country.

He shared many stages with a range of comedians even beyond the SA boarders in New York and London.

Mr Monwabisi Grootboom, producer of Wow Entertainment, said: “The purpose of the concept is to enrich African languages in a country that is fast losing its cultural heritage.

“There are gags that are simply better appreciated when expressed in an African language.

“Performing in the mother-tongue is perhaps the most revolutionary development in our little SA comedy industry.

“This helps spread and broaden the comedy economy, while giving our vernacular languages more commercial value.”

Sya B will be sharing the stage with a talented team of comedians like the Tembisa-born SkhumbaHlophe, Jozi’s most favourite comedian from KayaFM.

Secunda’s very own Sifiso Blackberry Mahlangu and Witbank’s Tsietsi Matlakala will also be sharing with other talented comedians that include MduNtuli from Siyabuswa Township KwaNdebele, SimphiweShembe and Mpukane.

Idols sensation Siyanda Maphumulo, who brought the television show to a stand-still with his swipe at the kwaitomuso, professor, for his song, imot’ entshontsh’ imali, will also bring down the house this weekend.

Tickets are available at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers for R120.
