eMBALENHLE – Philani Mahlangu (5) is in good health.
He went for a check-up about the big fluid filled lump on the back of his head at the Rob Ferreira Hospital in Nelspruit on Friday, 18 July.
According to his grandmother, Ms Lina Mashiyane (57), doctors assessed Philani and he will have to undergo an operation.
The boy was born with a lump on the back of his head which keeps growing bigger.
He cannot sleep properly and it often swells up.
Philani has undergone a computed tomography (CT) scan in Witbank Hospital earlier this year.
It was established that his mother, Ms Sibongile Mahlangu, defaulted her son’s treatment in 2009 before she left him in the care of Ms Mashiyane.
Philani is a Grade R pupil at Tholukwazi Primary School.
