Hang on a second, what is this?

The the Standerton Advertiser noticed a bird hanging from a tree in the garden of an empty house on 17 July.

The strange sight was seen on the corner of Coligny and Schwickard Streets, in the early hours.

At first it looked like the bird, a dove, had been caught by a spider web, but on closer inspection it hung from fishing line.

The bird apparently got its foot caught on the line and with the struggle to free itself got the line tied around its neck.

This situation for wildlife is unfortunate where especially birds use waste as nesting material.

A resident urged people not to discard waste from their vehicles, but rather wait until they get to their destination and dispose of it accordingly.
