The old Telkom building next to Lekwa municipal offices in Standerton is being vandalised.
Some of the windows have been shattered, the floor is filled with the remaining pieces of what was once the ceiling. The back door has been removed, making it easy for anyone to gain entry and take whatever they want.
The electric plugs and air conditioner have also been stolen.
According to a resident, people randomly use wheelbarrows to collect what they want at anytime.
According to a reliable source in the Lekwa Municipality the building does not belong to them, but to the Department of Public Works.
The outside of the building has only one locked gate and wide open space with no gates, which is used as private parking for vehicles.
