Police give tip of the week

Do not give anyone your personal details over the phone.

Lt Fanie Nhlabathi, spokesman of the Standerton Police, stressed his concern about car sales fraud.

This is done via cell phone when you are contacted with a good deal and when you pay a deposit, you never hear from the fraudsters again.

It has raised its ugly head in the the Standerton area and several residents have fallen victim to it.

Lt Nhlabathi urged everyone not to conduct any kind of deal like this.

Do not give anyone your personal details over the phone.

There is also a request when taking on domestic workers and gardeners.

Try to acquire a copy of their IDs, a residential address and if possible, details of their next of kin.

“You never know what people’s intentions are when asking for a job

these days,” Lt Nhlabathi said.
