Municipal officials and councillors addressed various lists of draft by-laws with residents such as the keeping of animals, water supply, electricity, cemeteries, parking grounds, public open spaces, liquefied petroleum, fire brigade services, nuisance, control and management of informal settlements, public meeting and gathering and smoking of tobacco in public places.

They also discussed public participation, libraries, taxi ranks, salons and hairdressers, public swimming pool, public roads, electronic communications network and miscellaneous, privately owned swimming pools, traffic, child care services, heritage, informal and street trading.

Mr Cyril Gwiji, Speaker, said at one of the meetings at the Sjongile Ndamase Community Hall in eMbalenhle on 18 June ,that community health is endangered by cows, sheep, goats, pigs and other domestic animals roaming the streets.

Animals are often seen in Lebohang, eMzinoni, Kinross Extension 25 and eMbalenhle walking on property and public places and in streets, where they pose a danger.

Residents were given a chance to comment on and give their input regarding the by-laws.

Some want the municipality to deal with informal traders, especially foreign shop owners who run their businesses in residential areas.
