Stop-and-search on N17 yields large dagga haul

The dagga has an estimated street value of R10 000.

Police have again apprehended dagga smugglers on the N17 outside Ermelo during a routine stop-and-search operation held jointly by the Ermelo Visible Policing Unit and the Ermelo K9 Unit.
The latest success came on last Wednesday morning when three males were arrested after being found in possession of large quantities of dagga.
The suspects, believed to be from Swaziland, Mayflower and Piet Retief, were travelling in three different taxis and police found more than10kg of tightly wrapped dagga stashed in sport bags. The dagga has an estimated street value of R10 000.
All three suspects appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on last Thursday on charges of dealing in dagga.
