Registration for pupils is open

No pupil can be refused admission on the basis that his or her parents are unable to pay school fees.

HIGHVELD – The Mpumalanga Department of Education urges parents to register their children of school going age now for next year.

The process began on 5 May and will continue until 29 August.

Early registration of pupils enable schools to plan in advance and to begin with teaching and learning on the first day of school re-opening.

Parents are required by law to produce an application from the school, an official birth certificate of the child, proof of immunisation, transfer cards if a pupil is transferred from one public school to another and the last report card issued by the previous school.

No pupil can be refused admission on the basis that his or her parents are unable to pay school fees.

Pupils with special disabilities must also be admitted to schools in line with the dictates of White Paper Number 6.

Should a parent experience a problem regarding the registration of a child at a school, he or she should ask for a written explanation from the principal, contact the nearest circuit office for help or contact the department’s toll free number at 0800 203 116 during office hours.
