Man arrested in Sakhile for theft of a motor vehicle

SAKHILE- The Standerton Police arrested a man for theft of a motor vehicle in Sakhile last Wednesday.

The car was stolen in Rooikoppen. The owner reported the incident and the K9 unit traced a tracker signal. The Volkswagen was found parked outside a house in Azalea.

The suspect was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle and appeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court last Thursday.

The police warned owners to park their vehicle in a garage or lock the gate at night if they do not have a garage, to prevent falling victim to this crime.

“VW Golf owners should get a gear-lock for their cars, because criminals target these vehicles,” Lt Fanie Nhlabathi, communications officer of Standerton Police, said.

The outcome of the court case was unclear at the time of going to press.
