Mr Bongani Khumalo was stabbed to death by unknown men on the R23 Road on 29 March.
He was walking with his uncle from town when an unknown vehicle pulled over and assailants exited the vehicle and stabbed him.
His uncle ran to call for help.
Another man who was behind Bongani and his uncle, was also stabbed by the criminals.
According to the other victim, he pretended to be dead and they left him and fled the scene.
Police arrived on the scene and dispatched an ambulance.
He was admitted to Standerton Hospital.
He was in a critical condition and transferred to another hospital where he is recovering.
According to Lt Fanie Nhlabthi, communications officer of Standerton Police, no arrests have been made.
Police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder.
