Ndlovu blames Premier for not providing support to farmers.

There was talk of helping emerging or small businesses while it was a known fact that business in Mpumalanga had been taken over by foreigners at the expense of South Africans.

HIGHVELD – The Congress of the People (Cope) in Mpumalanga said the Provincial Budget Speech that was delivered by Mr Madala Masuku, MEC for the Department of Finance, at the Provincial Legislature on Tuesday, 11 March makes no difference.

Mr Sizile Ndlovu, Cope provincial chairman, said Provincial Government under the leadership of Mr David Mabuza promised to give tenders to farmers for the running of school feeding schemes, but that did not happen.

He said Government supplied tractors for agricultural purposes to farmers in March last year, but the tractors are still parked at various irrigations schemes.

“An example can be seen at the New Forest Irrigations Scheme where the tractors had been parked since March last year.

“When asked what the reason is that they are not serving any of the purposes they had been bought for, we were told Government failed to buy fuel,” said Mr Ndlovu.

He said there was talk of helping emerging or small businesses while it was a known fact that business in Mpumalanga had been taken over by foreigners at the expense of South Africans.

“Another example of the shenanigans within the budget speech is that during the past financial year, a department head was fired for alleged corruption in a security tender worth billions of rand, therefore showing a possible lack of accountability as well as reliability in this government,” said Mr Ndlovu.
