Police need community’s help

The festive season saw a decrease in crime in the Evander area.

EVANDER – With the festive season that has come and gone, the police are pleased with the arrests they have made to date.

A total of 93 offences were reported bringing the statistics down in comparison with the year before.

The cases ranged from offences in terms of the National Road Traffic Act, liquor trade, burglary, general theft, offences under the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act, theft out of vehicles, common robbery, assault and rape.

Const Sibusiso Mbuli, communications officer for the Evander Police, said: “We are very happy with the decrease in crime in our area.

“We are appealing to the community to help us in the fight against crime.”

Const Mbuli urged the community to attend the regular CPF meetings and to work with the police to help create a safer environment.
