Four Tholukwazi Primary School classrooms destroyed in fire

Learners and teachers were traumatised after four classrooms had caught fire.

A  fire recently destroyed four classrooms at Tholukwazi Primary School recently.

This has disrupted teaching and learning.

The principal, Ms Jorine Masilela, said the situation is devastating and might affect results.

She said the cause of the fire is unknown, but the preliminary report of the fire fighters allegedly stated that the fire began at the electrical DB box.

The deputy principal of the school arrived early at the school and saw the fire.

“He informed me that when he arrived, the classrooms were on fire and the fire was spreading to other classrooms. All the classrooms were still locked and the windows were closed. He contacted the fire department.”

Ms Masilela the police and fire fighters were already on the scene when she arrived at the school.

Nobody was injured, but some teachers and learners were traumatised and were referred to social workers.

Books and furniture were destroyed.

Ms Masilela called on people donate and to help to revamp the school.
