Second municipal dumpsite closed in less than two weeks

On Friday morning, the road leading to the dumpsite was closed and blockaded.

HIGHVELD– The Kinross municipal dumpsite has been closed to the public since Thursday, 9 March.

The exact reason for the closure has not been confirmed yet, but according to workers from the dumpsite they have not been paid for more than three months and they also do not have fuel to run their earthmoving equipment to maintain the dumpsite.

On Friday morning, the road leading to the dumpsite was closed and blockaded.

The access road to the Kinross dump was blocked on Friday morning.

Piles of rubbish from illegal dumping has now made Protea Avenue (that leads past the dumpsite) nearly impassable.

One man, working alone was busy cleaning up the piles but he refused to comment and would not say if he was sent by the municipality or the operators of the dump.

For now, it seems that residents who have rubbish to dump should use the re-opened Secunda dump.
