Heavy rain expected as tropical storm Dineo hits SA

Heavy rain is expected in the southern parts of Mozambique tonight with rain that will hit parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga tomorrow.

HIGHVELD – Heavy rain is expected as the tropical storm Dineo shifts through the north-eastern parts of South Africa.

South Africa will experience rain from this tropical system today over the Lowveld, spreading westwards by Friday.

Disaster management teams have been activated in both KwaZulu-Natal and in the Kruger National Park.

According to the South African Weather Service, heavy rain is expected in the southern parts of Mozambique tonight with rain that will hit parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga tomorrow.

The South African Weather Service says during Thursday, 16 February, Dineo is expected to begin migrating along a slightly west-north-westward (WNW) track, still as a significant rain-bearing system, but starting to weaken somewhat in intensity.

Residents of the Highveld are urged to take caution as heavy rain is expected in the region.
