Sibanyoni brother joins Sithi Salute Soccer Development team

“We were crossing our fingers while we were waiting to find out if we are in or out.”

KINROSS – Olwethu and Khulekani Sibanyoni, U/15 Thistle Grove Football Club players and Kinross Primary School learners, were signed by the Sithi Salute Soccer Development team that is based in Gauteng.

Khulekani heard about soccer trials which were meant to take place in Leandra last September.

At the trials, they were going to select the best players to join the Sithi Salute Soccer Development team.

“After getting all the information, we also shared them with out team members and decided the whole team should go,” added Khulekani Sibanyoni, who also mentioned they saw it as a big opportunity for them.

The trials took place in Leandra on 26 and 27 November.

“We were tired after the two-day trials and waited anxiously for the results.

“We were crossing our fingers while we were waiting to find out if we are in or out,” said Olwethu Sibanyoni.

Seven players were selected from the Thistle Grove FC U/15 team.

They left on 13 January to attend academic and sports development in Gauteng.
