Community in shock after death of well-known doctor

He underwent bypass surgery, but suffered a stroke afterwards and never recovered.

KINROSS – Dr Danny Naidoo (61) died in Netcare Milpark Hospital on 22 December.

He underwent bypass surgery, but suffered a stroke afterwards and never recovered.

Dr Naidoo left behind his wife and two children who were both studying medicine.

His son, who just graduated, said his father always supported them in their studies and everything else they did.

“My father was a fun person who always said we should do everything now and have no regrets.

He was full of energy and could not keep still unless he was watching soccer,” said his son, adding that his father was a big fan of Kaizer Chiefs and a die-hard fan of Liverpool FC.

His family said a day before he left for the hospital on Sunday 4 December, he watched a Liverpool match and was very excited after his team won.

His wife, Ms Govi Naidoo, said when he was at the hospital he sent them WhatsApp messages telling them how he loved them and that he will see them soon.
His daughter said she used to wake up every morning and make him breakfast which includes fruit shakes.

Some of his patients referred to him as someone who loved people and always made jokes with them.

Dr Naidoo began his practice in January 1989.

His surgery was situated near Kinross Clinic and Thistle Grove Library.

The family said people should remember him for what he stood for and not only as a doctor, but a good friend and an outstanding citizen.

The funeral will be held on 26 December.

The service will begin at 10.30am at his house situated at 11 Magnolia street, not far from the Muslim Mosque.

The family said people will be allowed to pay their last respects to their beloved friend and doctor.

Then he will be taken to Brakpan Cemetery where he will be cremated.
