Protesters in Kinross barricade streets with stones and burning tyres
Protestors in the Kinross area barricade the streets by burning tyres and throwing stones in the hope of getting Mr Sol Vilakazi on the candidate list for the upcoming elections.
KINROSS – Residents awoke to find streets barricaded by stones and the burning of tyres. It is alleged that they are protesting for the name of Mr Sol Vilakazi to be put back on the candidates list for the upcoming election. Protesters said Mr Vilakazi was removed and replaced by the name of a woman who is said to be working for the municipality as a cleaner. Kinross police said the protest started at night and were also throwing stones at cars on the R29 road.
No arrest has been made so far. Police have managed to calm down the situation.
