Police will intensify patrols during the Grade 12 Exam Camps at various eMbalenhle schools.
eMBALENHLE – A pupil from KI Thwala Secondary School was allegedly drunk and was sent home during the Grade 12 Exam Camp held at the school on Sunday, 18 October.
The school hosts a camp each year during the final exams to help pupils study without interruptions and to have their teachers available.
The incident was reported to the police.
The police and the Community Policing Forum visited the school on 19 October to talk with pupils about alcohol abuse.
Capt Magonseni Nkosi, spokesman, said pupils were involved in fights and some sustained injuries during last year’s camp.
“Hearing that one of them was found drunk this year, we decided to attend to the problem to prevent what happened last year.”
The police will intensify patrols during the duration of the camp and the school will also provide security.
