Young golf players compete in Secunda

Non-profit organisation focuses on youth development.

The 2024 Govan Mbeki Youth Golfers Development Golf Day (GMYGD) took place at Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club on September 28.

Boti Nkomo won with 41 points while Lester Fynn finished second with 39 points, Given Ngobeni third with 38 points and Jerry Sisa fourth with 37 points. Ngobeni and Justin Crowley were the winners of the longest drive.

Lethu Maseko was the winner among the juniors with 40 points while Liyema Mtsweni finished second with 36 points, Mthobisi Mahlangu third with 34 points and Nhlakanipho Myeni fourth with 33 points.

Casper Lategan and Ace Mlambo were the winners of the closest to pin. Two of the coaches, Isaac Mahlangu and Elvis Jele were awarded certificates of recognition.

Together 43 golf players, including 13 junior players, participated in this golf day. The organisers of this golf day, GMYGD hosted another golf day the next day, September 29 specifically for junior golf players.

Mthobisi Mahlangu was the winner of this golf day with 64 points while Happy Mahlangu finished second with 66 points, King Khoza third, also with 66 points and Lethabo Maahlo fourth with 72 points.

The organisers of the golf day thanked all their sponsors for the day.
