SAPS hosted awareness campaign on robberies

Bronkhorstspruit SAPS held an awareness campaign to make the community aware of local hotspots for robberies.

The Bronkhorstspruit Police held an awareness campaign on robberies on August 6 at the corner of the R25/N4 highway in Bronkhorstspruit.

The campaign’s goal was to alert the individuals who held rituals next to the rivers and under the bridges that there has been an increase in police reports of individuals who are being robbed of their possessions.

Constable Munyadziwa Cathrine Ramovha said, “The R25 bridge before the Bonamanzi turn-off and the bridge before the R568 T-junction have been noted by the police as robbery hotspots.”

Posters were handed out to hitchhikers next to the N4.

The station commander of Bronkhorstspruit SAPS, Colonel Simon Dhladhla, warned the public not to visit the mentioned sites, especially after 16:00.

“Since these locations have put people’s lives in jeopardy, people should start seeing that even tap water is holy,” said Dhladhla.

Colonel Sibonile Mlaba warned to the hitchhikers on the N4 not to walk next to the highway as it puts their lives in danger. They were cautioned that they will be arrested if they cross the highway.

“Posters alerting the locals to robberies around rivers and underneath bridges, safety tips brochures were distributed in the Bronkhorstspruit area,” said Ramovha.
