Veronica van Greunen from Wet Nose was on her way to Pretoria earlier this month to collect a donation when she saw a Jack Russel darting into the middle lane of a busy highway near Donkerhoek.
Van Greunen said the dog looked lost and bewildered and was in danger as cars were zooming by.
Veronica, driven by her love and determination to keep animals safe, had to act quickly. She made a U-turn and managed to slow down the oncoming traffic.
She approached the frightened dog with caution and care while the dog trembled in fear.

Despite his nervousness, once this Jack Russel was in the bakkie with Van Greunen, his demeanour changed completely.
“This dog, now named Blikkies, started acting like he was the king of the car, his tail waggling and his eyes sparkling with the newfound security.
“His playful energy and affectionate personality made him a joy to be around.
“The search for his owners is continuing. If his owners are not found, he will be sterilised, and put up for adoption,” said Van Greunen.
