Loerie Youth Centre in Bronkhorstspruit to host a clay pigeon competition

The clay pigeon competition will raise money for underprivileged children.

The Loerie Youth Centre in Bronkhorstspruit is hosting a clay pigeon shooting competition on September 5 at the Military Clay Target Club in Pretoria.

The centre trust cares for the well-being of 31 underprivileged children. Three are NWU (Pukke) students, and two are distance-learning students.

All these students have grown up in the Loerie residence.

Because of the significant economic decline in our country, these children’s parents cannot provide for them.

The Loerie Youth Centre Trust aims to remove these underprivileged children from difficult domestic circumstances where they are exposed to malnutrition and other dangers from poor socioeconomic conditions in our country.

The centre is a non-profit and receives no government subsidy.

The trust is responsible for all running expenses, such as mortgage payments, food, transport, medical expenses, water and electricity, and salaries, which amounts to a substantial amount monthly.

These children depend on the Loerie Trust for all their needs. A group of Loerie friends have organised the Annual Clay Pigeon Shooting Competition since 2018.

This event helps fulfil the children’s dreams, including an enjoyable week-long holiday at a resort during December.

The Loerie Centre has decreased the number of teams from 87 in 2023 to between 40 and 50 in 2024.

The course layout will guarantee that teams do not have to wait to shoot, as one team member will be actively participating at all times.
