UPDATE: Second child also dies after eating snacks from tuckshop in eMbalenhle
The family of the children are still not prepared to speak to the media.
A five-year-old child who was in hospital in critical condition after also eating snacks bought at a tuckshop in eMbalenhle died.
Ridge Times reported yesterday that this child’s three-year-old sibling died on May 14 and that the five-year-old was in the ICU at Ermelo Hospital.
A family member allegedly bought the salty snacks at a tuckshop in Ext 22 on May 14.
Residents have met with the police to close down the tuckshop.
Mpumalanga Police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, confirmed the incidents and said the police are investigating two inquest cases.
