RickyB to the rescue of animals in the Secunda area

RickyB’s Jan Beselaar is urging the community, farmers, and businesses to support the new animal welfare NPO that will take the place of the NSPCA/SPCA premises.

A new NPO will replace the Highveld Ridge SPCA.

Setting the record straight over the recent publication of the article “Local SPCA to close down”, the ensuring of animal safety and welfare, and the volunteering committee to continue the work they do around animal welfare, is of top priority for RickyB.

Jan Beselaar, owner of RickyB, and the property owner of the land on which the NSPCA/HRSPCA occupies the premises for its animal shelter, issued the NSPCA/HRSPCA with a notice to vacate the premises by March 7.

This was because of the traumatic way the NSPCA swooped in and the euthanasia of animals at the HRSPCA was traumatic for the staff.

In light of the recent article, Beselaar wanted to make it clear that RickyB will be continuing with the animal shelter and assisting the staff and committee to continue the work and effort they do.

However, it will not be under the NSPCA/SPCA brand. In an interview with the Ridge Times, on February 29, Beselaar said: “We have been supporting the HRSPCA for over 15 years.

RickyB is now in discussion with the management and volunteers to continue their work but without the involvement of the NSPCA/SPCA.

“We will not tolerate the abuse the staff had to endure when the NSPCA came in and euthanised the animals,” said Beselaar.

The idea is to create something new with improvements to the current facility.

“We must commend the managing committee for the well-run SPCA,” said Beselaar.

RickyB is calling on local businesses, farmers, and the community to come forward to assist.

“This will be an NPO and we need the community and businesses to jump on board and help,” said Beselaar.

The new NPO will be covering the towns of Trichardt, Evander, Kinross and Secunda.
