Visitor at Standerton parkrun completes 578th run
Run director Elmien Vermaak gave a special word of welcome to Tracy Rankin at the parkrun on February 3, just before 08:00.
Rankin has completed 578 parkruns of which two events were done in Standerton.
A round of applause followed.
Standerton River Park hosts this free event for runners, joggers and walkers aiming to compete against themselves.
Tshiamo Lephoto crossed the finish line in a time of 17:55, while Timothy Hoop completed the distance in 22:35.
Rankin registered a new personal best of 24:37, followed by Wassie Rossouw’s 25:50 and a first-timer, Johan Duvenhage who clocked in at 27:00.
Janke Draper competed in her 50th event, recording 28:14 and Junior Mudau came in at 28:44.
The volunteers thanked Wimpy for the donation of Coke.
Catherine le Roux, Elmien Vermaak, Fadeela Omar, Gerhardus le Roux, Jennifer Naidoo, Johannes Vosloo, Krishnalal Ramdharee, Lydia Roets, Marjorie Uys, Priscilla Ramdharee, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Sylvy Moodley and Zeldine Strydom contributed to a safe and smooth event.
