Suspected murderers and kidnappers from Standerton appear in court

He informed police that he killed Rasi and dumped his body between Heidelberg and Vereeniging in an open field .

Mondli Emmanuel Hlongwane (32) and Ayanda Eric Ntuli (26) appeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on January 24 on charges of kidnapping, murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and defeating the ends of justice.

Standerton Police opened case 222/01/2024. It happened in Ext 6 between December 1 last year and January 23.
A wife reported on December 4 that her husband, Sipho Rasi, was missing since December 1 and an enquiry was registered.

Standerton detectives probed an investigation in tracing Rasi, who was last seen travelling with another known man from Ext 6.

Information was gathered, but no lead was found.

Lieutenant Colonel Simon Mthethwa conducted an operation on January 22 at 21:00, tracking the suspects allegedly involved in the kidnapping.

During the operation, one suspect was arrested in Ext 6 and taken for interrogation.

He informed police that he killed Rasi and dumped his body between Heidelberg and Vereeniging in an open field.

Later the other suspect handed himself over to police.

The suspect also identified where the body was dumped and the victim’s remains were found in the field.
The vehicle, which was stolen, was handed over to Bergville Police Station.

The case was postponed to February 6 for bail application.
