Learners excel in pilot programme in eMbalenhle

Officials from the education department visited the school on November 29 to evaluate the progress of the implementation of two subjects in the curriculum.

Zamokuhle Primary School in eMbalenhle is one of the schools in SA nominated by the Department of Education to pilot coding and robotics to help the department and Umalusi (sets and monitors standards for general and further education and training in SA) make an informed decision on whether to include them as a subject in the curriculum.

The department’s officials across SA visited the school on November 29 to check for any progress on implementing the subjects in the curriculum.

Learners showcased their knowledge and skills learnt.

The Grade Seven learners presented and programmed robots using laptops, while Grade Sixes made an electrical circuit and built a rover space car using Lego pieces.

According to principal Sifiso Khumalo, his school has made significant progress in piloting coding and robotics in their school. This department attested to this.
