More than 50 participants exercise at Standerton River Park

Bongane Mpokane crossed the finish line in a time of 18:35, a new personal best, while Marno Oosthuizen achieved a new personal best of 21:04.

Run director, Charl van Wyk, did the countdown on August 5 for 52 participants to start the parkrun.

Standerton River Park hosts this free event every Saturday at 08:00 for anybody inclined to run, jog or walk with the idea of competing against themselves.

Bongane Mpokane crossed the finish line in a time of 18:35, a new personal best, while Marno Oosthuizen achieved a new personal best of 21:04.


The first uphill in the first lap of the parkrun has to be navigated.

Mbuso Mazibuko came in at 25:57, followed by Reneilwe Tsotetsi’s 26:56, Daleney Grobbelaar’s 26:58 and Pieter Grobbelaar’s 27:26.

Andrew Ainsworth ran the 5km in an improved time of 28:02, followed by Frans Vermaak who registered 31:58.

Slindo Kahlo’s time was 33:37, Mphakiseng Tsotetsi’s 34:09 and Lehlohondo Sebilioane took on the parkrun for the first time and recorded 34:50.

Nitin Daya completed the distance in 35:19 and Sibusiso Dlangalala in 35:54.

Antoinette Herbst, Catherine le Roux, Gerhardus le Roux, Johannes Vosloo, Krishnalal Ramdharee, Leandri van Wyk, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Lydia Roets, Jean Robertson, Priscilla Ramdharee, Renette de Sousa, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Wessel Herbst, Willy Smith and Zeldine Strydom contributed to a safe and smooth event by volunteering at different positions.
