55 participants out of the blocks at Standerton parkrun

Kutloano Tsotetsi registered a time of 22:11, followed by Renilwe Tsotetsi who recorded 26:45.

Altogether 55 participants were ready for the parkrun on July 22 at 08:00 with nine athletes improving their times and five newcomers joining.

The event at the Standerton River Park is free of charge and offers the choice of running, jogging or walking a distance of 5km.

Kutloano Tsotetsi registered a time of 22:11, followed by Renilwe Tsotetsi who recorded 26:45.

JD van Niekerk crossed the finish line in 27:02, a new personal best, while Wassie Rossouw came in at 27:22 and Pieter Grobbelaar in 28:37.

Johann Vosloo completed his 50th event in a time of 29:25, followed by Mbuso Mazibuko’s 29:29 and Bryan Cordes’ 30:20, a first-timer.



Ettienne Kotze achieved a new personal best of 30:28, Janko van der Linden, a first-timer, recorded 31:00 and Frans Vermaak 31:23.

The bell at a bicycle at the finish line rang continuously as the athletes completed the distance. A piet-my-vrou, maybe a harbinger of rain, was heard early morning.

Antoinette Herbst, Charl van Wyk, Johannes Vosloo, Krishnalal Ramdharee, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Marjorie Uys, Preyanka Dorasamy,

Priscilla Ramdharee, Renette de Sousa, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Wessel Herbst and Zeldine Strydom volunteered for a smooth and safe event.
