Drug buy and bust in Delmas yield success

The planned operation yielded success when at the first premises; Nkosinathi Zondo (32) sold two zip lock bags containing crystal meth.

The Delmas Police received information about certain houses in Botleng, Delmas, where drugs could possible be kept and sold.

Members of police in conjunction with response members from the AfriForum Delmas Valke Neighbourhood Watch conducted a buy and bust operation on July 14.

The planned operation yielded success when at the first premises a man was arrested for selling two zip-lock bags of crystal meth. Eleven other bags of the same drug, 338 grams of loose dagga, and R225 were also seized.

At the second premises, a suspect was arrested for selling two zip-lock bags of crystal meth.

“During this bust, we seized 14 zip lock bags containing crystal meth and R109 in cash,” said Captain Carla Hartley, media spokesperson for the Delmas Police.

According to a neighbourhood watch response member, who wishes to stay anonymous, drugs were found hidden in a LED light bulb in one of the houses.

According to Hartley, the two suspects appeared in the Delmas District Court on July 17 on charges of dealing in drugs.

The police’s success in dealing with illegal drug trading continued on July 17 when they visited a house in Botleng. They were searching for a suspect linked to a grievous bodily harm case.

“Upon our visit to the said house, we found a suspect in possession of 18 pinches of heroin and 21 rocks of cocaine,” Hartley added.

The suspect was to appear in the Delmas District Court on July 18.
