River Park in Standerton is the place to be for a 5km exercise

Mohammed Musa crossed the finish line in a time of 21:14, followed by Andiswamahlubi Hadebe, who achieved a new personal best of 22:40.

Altogether 62 participants were out of the blocks on Saturday, May 6 for the parkrun. Standerton River Park hosts this free event where one can either run, jog or walk.

Four athletes improved their times and five new faces were seen.

Mohammed Musa crossed the finish line in a time of 21:14, followed by Andiswamahlubi Hadebe, who achieved a new personal best of 22:40.

Paul-Pieter Kotze ran a time of 22:41, while Theo Schönfeldt came in at 25:19 and Rhonwen Pienaar, a first-timer at 25:38.


Participants from all walks of life at the parkrun.

Junior Mudau completed the distance in 25:36, Humbulani Ramaru in 25:47, Parth Jayram in 26:54 in his 50th and Wassie Rossouw in 26:58.

Mbuso Mazibuko registered a time of 27:05 and Ilse Ferreir 27:15 in her 50th.

Antoinette Herbst, Charl van Wyk, Jennifer Naidoo, Johannes Vosloo, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Lorinda Smith, Marjorie Uys, Ruwan Vermaak,

Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Sonja Fouche, Sylvy Moodley, Schönfeldt and Wessel Herbst took up positions to ensure a safe and smooth event.

Altogether 52 participants decided to join the Freedom Day parkrun on Thursday, April 27 at 08:00.

Sinkho Mzizi crossed the finish line in a time of 21:28, followed by Hadebe who registered a time of 24:25.

Chrizell Roberts’ time in her 50th event was 25:08, while Rory Hodgkinson a first-timer cam in at 26:19.
Rossouw completed the distance in 28:16, followed by Daleney Grobbelaar’s 28:32.

Walter de Andrade, another first-timer, ran a time of 29:38, while Thusano Netshisimanani recorded a time of 29:57 and Pieter Grobbelaar a time of 30:07 in his 50th event.

Jayram entered his 50th as well and crossed the finish line in 31:26, followed by Johann Vosloo in his 50th in 34:01 and Andrew Ainsworth in 34:45.

Antoinette Herbst, Danie van Aswegen, Elna Vermaak, High Robertson, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Luke du Toit, Jean Robertson, Preyanka Dorasamy, Renette de Sousa, Hodgkinson, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Sylvy Moodley, De Andrade, Wessel Herbst, Willy Smith and Zeldine Strydom
ensured a smooth and safe event.
