Red Star in Delmas celebrates 100th parkrun on Freedom Day

Not only did they celebrate their 100th run with a full track race, they also hosted a beer run followed by a five-lap cycling event.

Red Star parkrun hosted its 100th run on Freedom Day, April 27.

Not only did they celebrate their 100th run with a full track race, but they hosted a beer run followed by a five-lap cycling event.

Parkrunners from all over flocked to the event. With celebration in the air, the runners enjoyed cupcakes after the run.

The event director, Jacky Grassman, also cut a beautiful 100th cake. Grassman thanked Red Star for their contribution to the success of the event.

“Thank you to owners, who make it possible for us to use the Red Star facility for our weekly parkrun. They always go the extra mile to make time and space for our events. Thank you to the entire Red Star Raceway team for their willingness to help.”

Grassman thanked the volunteers for being at their posts week after week.

Parkrun is a free community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate every Saturday.

Parkrun is also said to be a positive, welcoming and inclusive event. There is no time limit, and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome.
