Levels at Grootdraai Dam in Standerton at 100.4%
Grootdraai is one of the many listed dams that recorded a drop in water volumes in the Gert Sibande District.
The water levels at Grootdraai Dam continue to drop but are still above 100%.
The levels at Grootdraai Dam in the Integrated Vaal River System in the Gert Sibande District in Mpumalanga remain above 100%.
According to the Department of Water and Sanitation’s (DWS) weekly state of reservoirs report, dated March 27, Grootdraai Dam recorded a further drop from last week’s 101.1% to 100.4%.
Grootdraai is one of the many listed dams that recorded a drop in water volumes in the Gert Sibande District.
The other listed dams that dropped in volume in the district include Nooitgedacht dropping from 100.4% to 99.9%, Vygeboom from 100.7% to 100.5%, Jericho from 99.2% to 98.7%, Westoe from 98.5% to 97.6% and Heyshope from 100.8% to 100.7%.

Morgenstond Dam is the only one that recorded some improvement, increasing from 99.1% to 99.5%.
The drop in Grootdraai Dam and most of the listed dams in the Gert Sibande District mirrors the situation when recorded average dam levels dropped from last week’s 99.5% to 99.3%.
Water levels also dropped in the water management areas, with the Olifants dropping from 90.0% to 89.8% and the Inkomati-Usuthu dropping from 100.5% to 100.3%.
In terms of the districts, Ehlanzeni dropped from 100.8% to 100.6%, Gert Sibande dropped from 100.5% to 100.3%, and Nkangala dropped from 96.8% to 96.7%.
The department encouraged the public to continue using water wisely and sparingly as South Africa is a water-scarce country.
