Sasol 1 and 2 come out tops in weekend matches played
Sasol 1 and Sasol 2 were victorious in their matches, while the women’s team, unfortunately, fell short against strong opposition.
The Sasol Cricket Club hosted three matches on February 26.
Sasol 2 played against eMbalenhle at the Sasol B oval, and Sasol 1 took on Ermelo on the main oval. Both matches were part of the Gert Sibande Premier league.
The Sasol Women’s team took on Royal Strikers on the C oval.
Sasol 1 and Sasol 2 were victorious in their matches, while the women’s team, unfortunately, fell short against strong opposition.
Sasol 2 batted first against eMba and scored 187 all out. Douglas Richardson (34) and Werner Müller (35) were Sasol’s best batsmen.
Sasol 2 bundled out eMba for 63 runs. JP Nel took a fantastic 8/20 in his comeback match. Sasol 2 won with 124 runs.

Sasol 1 had to win the match to defend their Gert Sibande title and did so convincingly by beating Ermelo by eight wickets.
Ermelo decided to bat first and was bowled out for 96.
Ruan Jacobs took 3/26 in six overs, Vernon Fourie took 2/17 in 10, Ignus Koekemoer took 2/14 in nine, and Antonie van Jaarsveld took 2/23 in six.
Sasol chased the score in 15 overs and won the match by eight wickets.
Nicus Boshoff top-scored with 60, not out. Unfortunately, the women’s results sheet was not available at the time of going to print.
