WATCH: Two men and three women in police custody for theft in Trichardt
The suspects are currently in police custody and the vehicle has been taken in as evidence.
Two men and three women were taken into police custody after being arrested in an apparent attempt of theft and fleeing the scene.
The brazen thieves are linked to a separate case of theft a couple of weeks ago where they had stolen electrical cables from a local electrical business in Trichardt.
According to sources, the owner of the business recognised the thieves and their vehicle from previous video footage, when they allegedly attempted to steal again today, June 29.
The thieves sensed they were being watched and fled the scene in a sliver Hyundai Accent.
The business owner went after the thieves in his vehicle and requested the backup of MavCorp High-Risk Response.
MavCorp, AfriForum, GTR and the police’s Flying Squad gave chase and successfully apprehended the suspects at the 50/50 crossing heading towards Kriel.
The suspects are currently in police custody and the vehicle has been taken in as evidence.
Video footage supplied by GTR shows the vehicle and suspects being escorted back to Trichardt Police Station for further investigation.
