Alleged serial killer, Themba Shongwe, pleads not guilty on all charges

Community members were picketing outside court before the proceedings demanding that Shongwe be sent to jail.

Themba Shongwe, a suspected serial killer and rapist pleaded not guilty to all charges against him when he appeared before the Secunda Regional Court on Friday, May 20.

Shongwe, who is accused of murdering several little girls in eMbalenhle, wanted the court to appoint a second independent assessor.

Nongoloza Masina was appointed by the court.

eMbalenhle community members and the victims’ families were in attendance.

Community members were picketing outside court before the proceedings demanding that Shongwe be sent to jail.

His case was postponed to July 26 and 27 for him to consult with his new lawyer and get some documents regarding the case from the state prosecutor.
