Motorist dies in accident near Leandra

A motorist died when his BMW crashed into the back of an apparent stationary tanker on the N17 near Leandra late on Saturday night, August 21.

According to Mr Ross Campbell, multimedia producer for ER24 ambulance services, the deceased was believed to be in his 30s.

His passenger sustained moderated injuries.

“ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 00:08 (on Sunday morning). The Fire Department and another private service were already in attendance,” Mr Campbell said.

“The driver was being treated by the other services’ Advanced Life Support medic for critical injuries and the patient was then transported by them to Mediclinic Highveld where he, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries.

“The passenger was found still seated in the vehicle and was treated by ER24for moderate injuries before also being transported to Mediclinic Highveld for further care.”

Mr Campbell said the exact details of this incident are unknown to ER24, however, the polices were on the scene for further investigations.
