eMba teachers exercise

“This is how we can achieve 80 percent nutrition, plus 20 percent exercise to reach 100 percent wellness,” said Mr Mthimunye.

eMBALENHLE – Teachers from different schools in eMbalenhle gathered at Lifalethu Primary School for an aerobics, exercising and fun day on Saturday, 10 April.

This day was organised by a well known coach and trainer Mr Sunboy Mthimunye, who said his aim is to teach people to have knowledge about their bodies and give back to the community.

“In our country we have an illness called obesity caused by bad food consumption habits that end up killing a lot of people due to heart diseases, stroke and other illnesses.

“As I’m also giving guidance on nutrition, I can also identify a problem in someone’s body and offer a solution, such as the correct type of exercise and diet required. This is how we can achieve 80 per cent nutrition, plus 20 per cent exercise to reach 100 percent wellness,” said Mr Mthimunye.

He said teachers always work hard and they need to be healthy. That is why he initiated the aerobics and exercise programme. Ms Zoliswa Mdikwa (57), a primary school teacher and a diabetic, said the programme helped her to stay healthy.

She has seen a difference in her medication use since she joined the aerobics classes.

“My diabetes is at normal level and I’m stress free because my mind is always free” said Ms Mdikwa.

Mr Mthimunye anyone in any of the towns within the Govan Mbeki Municipality, is welcome to join the programme.

“I promise that they will never leave exercising again,” he said.
