Secunda’s Vispol-commander says goodbye

Col Mbokane accepted the position as the Vispol commander at Siyabushwa.

SECUNDA – Col Maggie Mbokane (51) left for Siyabushwa at the beginning of March.

She was the commander of visible policing (Vispol) in Secunda for several years and was also part of the management team of the Secunda Police Station.

Col Mbokane accepted the position as the Vispol commander at Siyabushwa where two other satellite stations will report to her.

“This is a promotion for me and I am up for the challenge. ”

She said the area will also ask for a different approach, such as working closely with the traditional leaders doing traditional policing the Siyabushwa area.

Although Col Mbokane will be working at Siyabushwa, she still refers to Secunda as her home.

“My children are still here and my youngest is currently in matric. I will come home on weekends so I will still be part of the local community,” she explained.

Col Mbokane said she will miss the Secunda community.

“I thank the community for their involvement, especially the CPF, for their partnership in fighting crime. They make a difference.

“I am impressed with the co-operation between the police and the security companies with their quick response.

“Please continue this to keep our area safe,” Col Mbokane said.

She will also miss the police members with whom she worked.

“I believe we built up a great team. Morale was at a low when I began as the Vispol commander, but I do believe we have raised the spirits.”

Col Mbokane’s faith was a pillar of strength for many.

“I believe in the power of prayer, and we always prayed before going out on duty.”

She also believes that God’s timing is always right and that this is why she accepted the position at Siyabushwa.
