Learners from eMbalenhle assure Tourism Minister that they will work hard

“Education will give you dignity and integrity, education will help you have stature in society,” says Minister of Tourism.

eMBALENHLE – The Minister of Tourism, Ms Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane, together with the chief whip of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature, Mr Fidel Mlombo, the executive mayor of Govan Mbeki Municipality, Mr Nhlakanipho Zuma, the speaker of council, Mr Fikile Nyembe, members of mayoral committee, councillors and officials from the Department of Basic Education visited various schools Monday, 15 February, to ensure teaching and learning were taking place on the first day of school.

Messages were that learners should work hard and achieve good results.

The minister and executive mayor also handed over school uniforms and pleaded with the tourism leaners to be serious about their studies.

“Education will give you dignity and integrity, education will help you have stature in society. Always remember, there are no quick wins,” the minister told Grade 12 learners at Thomas Nhlabathi Secondary School.

She also visited Osizweni Secondary School where Grade 12 learners assured the minister they will aim to obtain As and Bs, particularly in maths and science.

The minister’s visit was part of the government’s efforts to support learning and teaching with the schools reopening.
