ACSU and Ermelo Police apprehend four suspects in connection with robbery in Ermelo

“We fired a warning shot and they pulled over, however, as we got out of the vehicle they sped-off again.”

ACSU chased after four suspicious suspects in connection with an alleged robbery in Ermelo on 30 January.

According to Mr Armand Hilarius from ACSU, his partner Mr Jabu Mdhluli, reaction officer of ACSU, noticed four suspicious men at an ATM at a local garage around 1.30 pm.

When Mr Hilarius walked out of the garage the suspects jumped into a silver Toyota Yaris.

“We pursued them, but they swerved between oncoming traffic to try and get away,” he said.

“We fired a warning shot and they pulled over, however, as we got out of the vehicle they sped-off again.”

The suspects tried to flee and the chase continued on the Bethal Road where ACSU’s back-up team and police met up with them.

The suspects eventually pulled over and were apprehended.

Alleged stolen bank cards, cell phones and hunting knives were found in their property.

Mr Hilarius said: “The police were swift to respond and were a great help.”

Mr Oubaas de Jager, owner of ACSU, extended a huge thank you to the Ermelo Police for their amazing work and swift response.

“The police officers on duty were truly fantastic.

“It was a cohesive effort between police and ACSU that ensured these suspects’ fate was sealed, I tip my hat to them.”

The suspects were taken into custody.

The Highvelder sent media enquiries to Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman of Ermelo Police, and awaits response.
