Mediclinic Highveld withdraws visiting rights

From Tuesday, 29 December, only visitations to certain wards will be allowed.

With a second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic hitting South Africa, the management team of Mediclinic Highveld decided to withdraw visiting rights.

Ms Tertia Kruger, Corporate Communications Manager of the hospital, said this decision was taken in an effort to ensure that they are managing the risk to their patients and staff members.

“While we understand that visiting hours are important to our patients’ recovery, we believe that this is currently the most appropriate decision,” said Ms Kruger.

From Tuesday, 29 December, only visitations to certain wards will be allowed.

These wards include the neonatal ICU ward (one parent at a time), the paediatric unit (one parent may live in with child), the maternity unit (father or partner may visit) and visits to critically ill patients, but then these visits must be arranged with hospital management.

“Mediclinic wants to emphasis that everyone within the healthcare sector is working together to fight this pandemic,” said Ms Kruger.

“We encourage communities to adhere to the lockdown and distancing efforts and to observe all measures put in place within the hospital to ensure the safety of our patients.”
