eMba Police warn women not to walk alone in isolated areas

A man whom she believed was mentally ill grabbed her, dragged her to a nearby field and rape her.

eMBALENHLE – Police issued a warning to women not to walk alone in isolated areas.

This warning came after the recent rape of 12-year-old girl when she was returning home from school.

According to police, she was on her way home, when a man whom she believed was mentally ill grabbed her, dragged her to a nearby field and rape her.

A rape case was opened but no one has yet been arrested. Const Busi Mthethwa, eMbalenhle Police spokesman, said the police are also investigating two serious crimes of domestic violence and rape.

“These two cases give us sleepless nights,” she said.

“We have a case where a 50-year-old man stabbed his wife with a sharp object. When he thought his wife was dead, he also stabbed himself to death.

“However, the wife survived and is recovering from her stab wounds,” explained Const Mthethwa.

“We also have a case where an eight-year-old allegedly raped another eight-year-old,” said Const Mthethwa.
