Man stabbed to death at tavern in Bethal

When police responded to the scene at a local tavern in Kerk Street, Bethal, they found the man, who was wearing overalls at the time, lying face-down with stab wounds to his neck.

BETHAL – Police attended to a scene where the body of a man, believed to be between the ages of 40 and 54 years old, was found in a pool of blood on Saturday, 12 December.

The body was found at about 8.15pm.

When police responded to the scene at a local tavern in Kerk Street, Bethal, they found the man, who was wearing overalls at the time, lying face-down with stab wounds to his neck.

Const Xolani Khuzwayo attended to the scene and role players such as Bethal EMS, Secunda Local Criminal Record Centre and Forensic Pathology were summoned to the scene.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene. The body was taken to the state mortuary where the family later identified him. The motive behind the stabbing is unknown and a case of murder has been opened.
