Ciska takes on new role as deputy chairperson for the DA in Mpumalanga

She is honoured by the trust that had been placed in her by the DA in Mpumalanga.

HIGHVELD – Well-known resident and DA Councilor for Ward 25, Ms Ciska Jordaan, has now taken on her new roll as deputy chairperson for the DA.

Ms Jordaan was in the running with Mr Muso Kubeka, the public representative from Lekwa Local Municipality, Standerton, and the causus leader in the Gert Sibande District.

“Mr Kubeka and I have been working together for many years and even though we were competing for this position, it had no impact on the work that we do or the good relationship we have.

“We both ran clean, positive campaigns and continue to look in the same direction with a similar love for South Africa and the common goal of saving South Africa by growing the DA,” said Ms Jordaan.

She said she is honoured by the trust that had been placed in her by the DA in Mpumalanga.

“I am committed to the Democratic Alliance and its values, motivated and inspired by those who came before me and support me to execute this mandate.

“I do not take this newfound responsibility lightly and will continue giving it my all in advocating for a South Africa in which freedom, fairness, opportunity and diversity prevails.”

Ms Jordaan will continue to work in Ward 25 of the Govan Mbeki Municipality (Secunda and Trichardt), within the Govan Mbeki Council as well as the Gert Sibande District Council.

“As I was before becoming the deputy chairperson, I am determined to assert myself in the fight against corruption, poverty and non-delivery of services that are crippling this province in all of the spaces that I serve our communities; and being a part of the DA Difference in Mpumalanga.”

Ms Jordaan said that when affirmed by the party’s evaluation system, which is a unique concept to politics in South Africa that cannot be found in another political party, a high standard of performance is expected of public representatives of the DA.

“We believe that our party is recognised by voters through the work that we do in caring for our communities, enhancing service delivery and fighting against corruption and maladministration as public representatives all over the country, not only by whatever national political issue is taking the attention of the media.

“Considering this, I am convinced that the advantage to the DA would be the trust gained from voters through the work that I do in the communities and councils that I serve, the platforms where I am expected to serve in the party and the colleagues that I am grateful to lead and follow.”

Ms Jordaan went on thanking her colleagues in Govan Mbeki Municipality who supported her through thick and thin and fought alongside her for those they serve in this municipal area.

“Even though congresses may ignite internal competition, I am always able to find support in a DA colleague no matter where they are from or which position they occupy.

“I am motivated and inspired by the fact that the DA recognises potential and chooses to empower it.

Apart from the by-election in Ward 30 in Secunda on 11 November, the 2021 Local Government Election is around the corner.

“The biggest support that residents could lend me, is to lend the DA their votes.

“The run down Govan Mbeki Municipality and the Mpumalanga Province would not be able to handle much more of ANC-rule.

“The only thing that could change this, is a vote towards a political party with a proven track record in good governance, innovation that finds strength in its diversity.

Help us to save South Africa by voting DA.”

“There are heroes all around us. In the DA in Govan Mbeki, I have been privileged to learn from and pay tribute to heroes like Mariaan Chamberlain, Hein Badenhorst, Thembha Mlotshwa, James Masango, Tarnia Baker and so many others even in our communities that are always working behind the scenes to make live better for others.

“My favourite hero is my husband Jonathan to whom I am extremely grateful for always supporting me with whatever it is I put my mind to.”

She said he has never complained of all the time she gives to the cause she serves and looks after her in so many ways that enable her to do what she does.

“My family and friends are always the first to wish me luck, congratulate me and encourage me when times are tough.

“On election days when one often finds yourself working strenuously for as much as 30 hours straight, they will be the first to send me pictures of their inked thumbs, report about their local voting stations, check in to see if I am fine, and encourage me to keep going.

“It’s for my husband, the child we are expecting, my family, my friends and all the other children, mothers, brothers, fathers, sisters and friends in South Africa that myself and so many others in the DA are doing what we do – so that hopefully with our collective efforts we might be able to live in the united and flourishing South Africa that we dream of,” ended Ms Jordaan.
