eMba residents are sick and tired of sewage problems

Residents of Ward 9 have lost confidence in coucillor.

eMBALENHLE – Residents of Ward 9 say the only language that the municipality understand is violence.

They say they are sick and tired of reporting the sewer problems in the area.

Sewerage is flowing in the streets of this Ward and residents have reported the matter several times, but nothing is being done.

Ms Zodwa Xaba’s yard is filled with sewage and the stench is unbearable.

“This is totally unacceptable, we are living like pigs and this also poses a health hazard.

“I do not know what to do!”

Residents have tried to talk with Mr Darkles Mahlangu, their ward councillor, but he is never available and does not show up for prearranged meetings.

Ms Anita Mkhwabane, resident, said they had a meeting with the ward committee and PR councillor, but were told that if we have problems, we must go to the homes to report one by one.

“We wrote a letter to Mr Cyril Gwiji, Speaker, but we did not receive any feedback.

“We want Ms Lindi Masina, executive mayor, to intervene.”

Residents said they have no confidence in Mr Mahlangu, because he has neglected them.

If Council does not give attention to the problem, they will find a way to get attention.

Mr Henry Masango, head of communication and marketing, said he will take the matter up and the problem will be attended to as soon as possible.
