ANC takes the caucus to the people.

Mr Anthony Makhaye, chief whip of the ANC, will lead Council to eMzinoni and Bethal residents on Monday, 3 November.

eMZINONI – Mr Anthony Makhaye, chief whip of the ANC in the Govan Mbeki Municipality, Ms Lindi Masina, executive mayor, and Mr Cyril Gwiji, Speaker, will be leading municipal ANC councillors and members of the mayoral committee on a visit to Bethal and eMzinoni on Monday, 3 November.

The visit is called “Taking Caucus to the People”.

It is aimed at interacting with the residents regarding the implementation of the municipality’s service delivery programmes and to attend to issues that people may like to bring to the attention of the municipality.

The service delivery issues to be discussed revolve around human settlements and basic services such as water and sanitation, electricity and roads which are at the core of the ANC programme during this term of government.

The ANC caucus is part of an ongoing programme of transforming caucuses throughout the country into effective and efficient oversight structures and making it an activist caucus.

Mr Makhaye said the synchronisation of the work of MPs, MPLs and councillors in communities is necessary to enhance the capacity to perform oversight and monitoring over the municipality to ensure that it delivers on its mandate.

“This will also assist in addressing the situation that sometimes results in uncoordinated and fragmented programmes, duplication of tasks and wastage of resources in oversight work.”

The programme of the day will begin with a caucus meeting at Bethal Town Hall on 03 November at 8.30am.

The door-to-door visit in Ward 24 will began at 10am and the public engagement with local structures at the Raymond Mavuso Hall at 2pm.
